DCCMS Ambassador Scholarship
The DCCMS Ambassador Scholarship can be applied to an accredited trades program, or 2 or 4-year College/University attendance for Fall 2025. Please complete all sections of the application. The deadline for submission is Friday, May 9, 2025. There are up to 10 scholarships to be awarded in the amount of $1,000.
Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of financial need, essay response, school and community involvement, personal recommendations, and academic achievement. Sauk Scholars are not eligible. All scholarship funds must be applied to tuition, room/board fees, or textbooks/media for classes. Payment will be made in two installments during the recipient’s freshman year at college/university.
Qualifications
- Resident of Dixon, IL – attending DHS, Newman HS, Faith Christian, or homeschooled.
- Graduating seniors must be registered as a full-time student pursuing a career certificate or a 2 or 4-year Associates/Bachelor Degree Program at an accredited college or university for Fall 2025.

As part of this application, you will need to answer one of the following questions below with a typed essay or 3- to 10-minute video. You will need to upload this attachment before submitting.
A. What Does Dixon Mean to You?
For this prompt, we’re looking to hear your story. We believe that Dixon is a great place to live, work, and raise a family. We want to know more about your personal experiences growing up in Dixon. In a short essay or video, please tell us what makes Dixon special to you, what we could do to make Dixon a better place for you, and what you would do to make Dixon better.
B. Tell us About Your Favorite Local Businesses
For this prompt, we’re looking to hear about your favorite local business. Describe to us what you enjoy about the business, tell us about their history, and how that business helps the community.
Things You Will Need Before Submitting
In addition to filling out the information in the form below and submitting a short essay or video, you will also need to attach the following to be considered for the scholarship:
- Two original letters of recommendation; one from your high school faculty or counselor, and one from a personal source. Home schooled applicants may submit two personal source recommendations, one of which must be from a source related to one of your activities listed in Section 4.
